Synopsis KÎZÎM
Director: Radu Potcoavă

The action takes place nowadays, in a neighborhood located on the border of the port of Constanța.

Selda, a 16-year-old Tatar girl tries to break the pressure of the traditions in which she grew up.

While she lives a secret love with Tudor, a Christian boy, her parents struggle to convince her that religion and Tatar traditions are more important for her future.

An event not approved by the parents pushes them to punish their daughter, forbidding her to see Tudor again and not to leave the house for a week.

This situation convinces Selda even more that it’s time to do justice for herself so she initiates a plan together with Tudor to show her parents that she can no longer be raised and kept like a cage and that she is free to choose who she loves.

All she wants is to have a normal teenage life that she identifies with.

The conflict between the generations and the mentality of the parents leads Selda to choose between the two worlds.
